Aston Martin will continue to provide the Official Safety Car of Formula 1®, with the new Aston Martin Vantage taking that role. The Aston Martin DBX SUV is also continuing as the Official Medical Car of Formula 1®. These two vehicles will support all 12 of this year’s Formula 1® races, including the highly-anticipated return to Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia.
The specially prepared Aston Martin Vantage and DBX cars will be using the new 2022 Aston Martin Racing Green that was shown at the launch of the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula 1® team’s newest vehicle – the AMR22.
Both the Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car and the Aston Martin DBX Medical Car have been specifically designed for their roles in collaboration with the FIA – the governing body of world motorsport. The Vantage Safety Car includes body side mounted radio antennas, an LED rear number plate, and specially designed roof-mounted LED light-bar.
Inside, there is access to the FIA’s Marshalling System, which displays lights corresponding to warning flags that are being shown on the track, in addition to inside the actual Formula 1® cars themselves. There are also cameras inside and outside the car to provide live TV footage during the race.
