Aston Martin DB5 Stunt Car Raises $3.2 million for Charity

One of the Aston Martin DB5 replica stunt vehicles featured in the most recent James Bond movie, “No Time To Die,” raised $3.2 million for charity when it was auctioned at Christie’s recently. The auction of the replica DB5 celebrated 60 years of James Bond films, while also giving millions of dollars to worthy charities.

The stunt car is one of eight built for the film, and each car was uniquely modified for their specific purpose on the big screen. The one sold at Christie’s featured a variety of operational gadgets, such as a rotating digital number plate, retractable headlights, pop-out machine guns, and prop firing bomblets. This Aston Martin DB5 stunt vehicle was driven by Daniel Craig through Matera, Italy in the film.

Proceeds from the DB5 auction are going to The Prince’s Trust, which works with young people; The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund, which helps serving and former members of UK Intelligence Agencies; and three other charities supporting serving and former members of the UK Special Forces.

Two other Aston Martin vehicles were also auctioned at the event, including a 1981 Aston Martin V8 also driven by Daniel Craig as James Bond in “No Time To Die.” The 1981 Aston Martin V8 was the fastest four-seat production car in its day, and is similar to the one used in the 1987 James Bond film “The Living Daylights.”

The last vehicle auctioned was an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera 007 Edition, which was one of 25 examples created by Aston Martin to celebrate the new movie. There were also watches, costumes, and other props used in the latest Bond film, with the final six lots representing the six actors who have played Bond over the 25 film history.
